Arthur Chan

Dr. Arthur Chan is an assistant professor in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry. He has a BS from University of Pennsylvania and MS and PhD from California Institute of Technology. His research focuses on chemistry of air pollution and its effects on human health. His group develops analytical techniques to measure air pollution and studies the biological effects. Air pollution is one of the major health risks in the developing world, and Prof. Chan’s group is developing low-cost methods to measure particulate matter exposure that can be used worldwide. He is the Atmospheric Aerosols Working Group Vice-Chair of the American Association for Aerosol Research, and received an Ontario Early Research Award in 2017.
