J Stewart Aitchison

Stewart Aitchison is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. His research is focused on the use of micro and nano scale devices for the development of portable sensing, monitoring and diagnostic systems. In 2009, he co-founded ChipCare Corp which is developing a portable CD 4 analyser for monitoring patients with HIV designed for deployment in low resource settings. He is also the associate scientific director of the Canadian Network Centre of Excellence, IC-IMPACTS and is responsible for the health research theme. IC-IMAPCTS supports collaborative research between Canada and India in areas of sustainable infrastructure, clean water and mobile health. Prof Aitchison is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
